Commercial Translation
Former PhD students from our laboratory have gone on to become faculty, technical specialists in the private sector, and entrepreneurs (Alumni). For example, Josh Caputo (Ph.D. 2015) is President and Founder of Human Motion Technologies, or HuMoTech, which now has half a dozen full-time employees at its headquarters in Pittsburgh and has sold dozens of commercial prosthesis and exoskeleton emulators developed in our laboratory. Stuart Diller (Ph.D. 2018) is in the process of spinning out ESTAT Actuation, also currently headquartered in Pittsburgh, to commercialize the electroadhesive clutch technology developed in our laboratory.
